Discontinuance of Service
Billing Policy
Regular billing is due and payable upon date of presentation. Pursuant to Government Code (G.C.) § 60373, your bill will become past due if not paid within 19 days after date of presentation. Past due bills are subject to interest and late fees in accordance with G.C. § 61115. A 10% penalty will be assessed when delinquent.
Should the amount of your bill be questioned, the customer must request an investigation or initiate a complaint with the District within five days of receiving the bill per G.C. § 60372.
All bills are the responsibility of the customer who signs for service and remains their responsibility until the District is notified that the service is to be taken out of their name and the account is paid in full.
SB 998 Residential Utility Shutoff Service Policy
In accordance with Senate Bill 998 (SB 998), known as the “Water Shutoff Protection Act” approved by the Governor on September 28, 2018 (California Health and Safety Code Sections 116900, et seq.), Vandenberg Village Community Services District will not discontinue service on residential accounts less than 60 days delinquent, will provide at least seven days notice before discontinuance, and will provide payment arrangements for those customers unable to pay.
